2024 Through the Looking Glass Gala attendees will have their vehicles in good hands with valet services from SILO Auto Club and Conservancy.

The image shows a scene with three classic cars parked in front of a building. The car closest to the camera is a dark blue vintage car with a chrome grille and round headlights. Next to it is a green car, and further back is a yellow car. The building behind them has a sign that reads "Silo Auto Club and Conservancy" with a logo above it. The building has large windows and a modern design. The sky is clear with a few clouds, and there is a tall tree visible in the background.Established in 2018 in downtown Indianapolis by Mike and Liz Simmons, SILO Auto Club and Conservancy is the first-of-its-kind collector and exotic vehicle storage facility in Indianapolis, providing the highest level of security and care for members’ cars, trucks, and motorcycles. With their expertise in dealing with high-end automobiles, SILO Auto Club and Conservancy was brought on board three years ago by the Lucas Estate to provide valet services at events.

“We are mainly in the car storage/event business, but we also do valet,” says SILO manager Jeff Hostetter. “We started out kind of small, doing a few events. But now, we do valet full-time for the Lucas Estate.”

Located at 644 E. Washington St., SILO Auto Club and Conservancy is a concept that blossomed out of Mike Simmons’ love for cars.

“Mike is a car collector, and he and his wife moved downtown from Zionsville,” Hostetter says. “He needed a place to store his own collection, so long story short, he made a business out of SILO to store his own cars. He wanted a place where he could come and pick up his cars. He was storing them at different places where they wouldn’t always start, and he’d have to maintain them before he even got in them. He just wanted to be able to hop in the car and enjoy it.”

SILO Auto Club and Conservancy now offers its members with a variety of member perks, including car-related workshops, bi-weekly brunches, cigar nights, and more. As Hostetter explains, the club is open to anyone and everyone, too.

“We don’t want to say we’re just for car lovers — we are a social club as well,” Hostetter says. “So anyone that’s interested in being a member has access to look at the cars on our member nights.”

On this note, members of the public will have a chance to bid on a one-year social membership to the SILO Auto Club and Conservancy, which will be featured in the 2024 Gala silent auction. This membership provides access to SILO's private lounge, access to racing simulators, two free all-day conference room rentals, and 20% off event rental space, making it an item of interest for car lovers and non-car lovers alike. The silent auction will kick off on Monday, Sept. 23 and is open for anyone to bid on, so make sure to keep an eye out for its listing in the coming weeks.

In reflecting on why SILO enjoys working with the Lucas Estate, Hostetter says the two have many similarities.

“Personally, we love the relationships and working with the same kind of clientele that we do here at SILO,” Hostetter says. “Working with Shelly [Lucas Estate Event Manager] has also been great. We both are in the business of putting on events that are hopefully memorable for people.”
