In a bright room sunlit by two large windows, three musicians are with their instruments. In the center foreground, a boy with white-blond hair is playing his saxophone; mouthpiece between his lips, his left arm coming across his midsection, his fingers placed on the keys. In the background are the other two musicians; one at a keyboard on the left, the other on drums on the right. Verbal description provided by audio describer, Jen Anker.

The arts are a large part of the ISBVI curriculum. Students participate in general music education, choir, piano classes, jazz band and visual arts classes. Artistic activities directly exercise and strengthen the cognitive and physical skills that generally challenge children with specific needs such as oral, tactile, visual, sensory and motor skills. (Americans for the Arts) Featured here are members of the 2018 jazz band. IBCF has supported the jazz band through the acquisition of funding for instruments and music technology.

Thank you to Realize, Inc. for the 3D printed lithophane image.
